September 24, 2011 -- President  James A Michel has sent a message of congratulations to the newly elected President of Zambia, Mr Michael Sata.

The message of "warmest and most sincere congratulations" was also sent on behalf of the government and people of Seychelles, to the government and people of Zambia.

President Michel spoke of the excellent cooperation and collaboration between Seychelles and Zambia, and reiterated the commitment of the Seychelles government to strengthening the good relations between the two countries.

Seychelles established diplomatic relations with Zambia in 1998. Both countries are members of SADC (Southern Africa Development Community) and COMESA (Common Market for East and Southern Africa).
