November 29, 2010 -- Her Royal Highness, The Princess Royal, Princess Anne and her husband Vice Admiral Laurence arrive in Seychelles today for an official three-day visit.
This is the first time that the Princess, only daughter of Britain's Queen Elizabeth II and Duke of Edinburgh, has visited the islands.
On the afternoon of her arrival, Princess Anne and Vice Admiral Laurence will travel to the Cenotaph to commemorate people whose lives were lost in war and meet with Seychellois war veterans before attending the official opening ceremony of the University of Seychelles at the Anse Royale campus. In the evening, President Michel will host a state reception to welcome the royal party.
On the morning of Tuesday 30 November, Princess Anne and Vice Admiral Laurence will visit the World Heritage site of Vallee de Mai on Praslin where they will also attend a brief reception with invited members of the local community. On their return to Mahe, they will call upon EUNAVFOR and the Seychelles Coastguard to learn about their numerous anti piracy measures.
The Princess will say farewell to Mahe on Wednesday 1 December.
