April 12, 2010 -- President James A Michel undertook a one-day official visit to Libya at the weekend at the invitation of Colonel Muammar al-Gaddafi, the Leader and Guide of the Revolution.

The two leaders discussed the enhancement of bilateral relations between Seychelles and Libya. Piracy and the further development of the African Union were among the issues discussed.

The Libyan government announced in February the cancellation of 50% of Seychelles' debt and the rescheduling of the remainder on favourable terms.
