“Co-building a New Eco-Social World: Leaving No One Behind”
Every third Tuesday of March a special spotlight is given to the work that the social workers do 365 days a year. Today is the key day in the year that social workers worldwide stand together to celebrate the achievements of their profession.
Hence, today we celebrate you! Today we celebrate the outstanding contributions that you make towards the well-being of our nation.
Today, as we applaud the significant contributions that you make in the life of individuals, families, and communities, I urge you to reflect on the international theme for the day which is “Co-building a New Eco-Social World: Leaving No One Behind”. The theme presents a vision and action plan to create new global values towards the sustainability of our planet.
Locally, more than ever before, Seychelles needs individuals like you who are committed to making a difference in the lives of people within their communities. We need to ensure Seychelles continues to build an eco-social development agenda for the upcoming decade as our country, as well as the world are confronted with modern challenges. We need an eco-social development agenda that makes sure humanity can thrive despite the challenging times, and that no one is indeed left behind.
The Government of Seychelles will continue to listen to your needs and implement policies that will enable you to be better prepared for your role. As the country continues to undertake bold and modern initiatives to tackle our myriads of social issues and empower our citizens, I urge you to continue to be dynamic agents of transformation in this process.
As we celebrate this very important day in Seychelles, I wish all social workers, past and present a very Happy Social Workers’ Day.
