On the occasion of Zero Discrimination Day

On 1 March, we join the international community to celebrate Zero Discrimination Day and reaffirm our commitment to stop discrimination in all its forms.
At the core of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights is the important principle that everyone has the right to a full and productive life – and to live it with dignity. Every person is entitled to equal rights and equal opportunities. Today we celebrate everyone’s right to live a full life regardless of their race, gender identity, sexuality, education or beliefs.
Discrimination in any form, from racial or religious discrimination to bullying at school or at work, causes pain and suffering to many and undermines our progress and efforts to achieve a more just and equitable society.
Allowing discrimination to continue is not only wrong, but it is bad for communities, bad for the economy and bad for the future. Let us unite ourselves to respect each other and promote tolerance, compassion, peace and above all, a movement for change, today and every day.
Ending discrimination requires action from us all. Zero Discrimination Day is an opportunity to highlight how everyone can be a part of the transformation and take a stand towards a fairer and just society.
