President Wavel Ramkalawan chaired a scheduled meeting of the Cabinet yesterday, Wednesday 20th April at which a number of policy memoranda were considered.
As part of Government’s plan to ensure adequate supply of clean energy for the country, Cabinet discussed various proposals submitted by PUC to increase the production of power for Praslin and La Digue to address the increasing demand for power on the two islands. Various alternative and innovative types of power production were proposed such as biomass and solar power. Cabinet requested that further analyses be done before a final decision is taken on the way forward.
Cabinet also urged businesses, especially businesses within Victoria, to make a special effort to beautify their buildings in preparation for the forthcoming National Day.
