President Wavel Ramkalawan chaired a scheduled meeting of the Cabinet today, Wednesday 9th February at which a number of legal and policy memoranda were considered.
Cabinet approved the revised Land and Housing policies. The policies which will be launched later in the month of February are aimed at clarifying the criteria for allocation of land and housing; increasing the types of housing offered by Government in order to increase access to lodgings. The media plan for communicating the details of the policies to the public was also presented to Cabinet and approved.
Cabinet was updated on the preparation taking place for the holistic implementation of the Results Based Management within Government and the development of the National Development Strategy. Cabinet approved for the National Development Strategy to be developed along 6 major priority areas namely Transformative Economy; A Modern Public Service; Modernisation and an efficient health system; A Modern Education System aligned with future needs; Promotion of Law and Order; and Environment Sustainability and Climate Change Resilience.
Cabinet also approved the manner in which the different Ministries, Departments and Agencies will be organized for the development of the sectoral strategic plan.
Cabinet was presented with the proposed Integrated Land Transport Policy. The overall aim of the policy is to develop a sustainable land transportation system for Seychelles towards accelerating socio economic development and improving the quality of life. The policy will be further discussed in prior to taking final decisions.
