President Wavel Ramkalawan chaired a scheduled meeting of the Cabinet yesterday, Wednesday 7th July, at which a number of legal and policy memoranda were considered.
Cabinet approved the new legislation to create the Seychelles National Institute for Culture, Heritage and the Arts. The legislation will allow for the autonomy of the Institute of Culture and the Arts which will function apolitically to promote and develop culture, heritage and the arts in the country.
Cabinet was briefed on the Eco district Award which is being launched at district level. The award will follow the Eco School Award and will aim at improving sustainable development at district level and to and stimulate innovative, holistic, community-based transitions towards eco-friendly, low-carbon and waste free communities.
Cabinet was also briefed on the COVID-19 status in the country. Cabinet has requested that other measures be considered to improve the rate of vaccination in the country and to reduce the rate of transmission of the virus.
