President Wavel Ramkalawan chaired a scheduled meeting of the Cabinet today, Wednesday 17th March, at which a number of legal and policy memoranda were considered.
Cabinet approved amendments to the Anti-Corruption Act, 2016 and the Public Officers’ Ethics Act.
Cabinet approved for the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the International Trade Centre and the Government of the Republic of Seychelles.
Cabinet also approved for the Migration of the Harmonised Commodity Description and Coding System from version 2017 to 2022. This harmonised system is reflected in the Customs Management (Tariff and Classification of Goods) Regulations. The System is used for the classification of goods which serves several purposes including trade negotiations, the application of taxes, facilitation of trade and statistical collection.
Cabinet approvedforthe review of the Composition of the Board of the Seychelles Bureau of Standards in orderto have a smaller Board.
Cabinet approved to repeal the Legislation Governing the National Council for the Elderly and the National Council for the Disabled.
Cabinet also approvedforthe repeal of Boards for the Enterprise Seychelles Agency, the Industrial Estates Authority and the Seychelles Investment Board. This was in line with the President’s announcement.
Cabinet approvedthe new procedures for administering the Government of Seychelles Scholarships during exceptional economic circumstance.
