President Danny Faure chaired a scheduled meeting of the Cabinet on Wednesday 26th February, at which a number of legal memoranda were considered.
Cabinet approved provisions in the revised Communications Bill 2020. The provisions will address the composition of the Board of the Seychelles Communications Regulatory Authority; the establishment of the Communications Tribunal; the imposition of penalties and amendment to the number portability provisions of the previous Bill.
Cabinet also approved amendments to the Broadcasting and Telecommunications (Records of Prepaid Mobile Services by Operators of Public Land Mobile Network) Regulations 2009.
Cabinet approved for Seychelles’ accession to the Beijing Convention 2010. This Convention on the Suppression of Unlawful Acts relating to international Civil Aviation entered into force on 1 July 2018.
Cabinet approved amendments to the Children’s Act. The amendments will address the prohibition of corporal punishment.
