President Danny Faure chaired a scheduled meeting of the Cabinet on Wednesday 8th January, at which a number of legal memoranda were considered.
Cabinet endorsed the Government Legislative Programme for 2020.
Cabinet approved amendments to a number of financial services legislations. The aim of these amendments are to review the fees charged and to introduce new fees in line with new activities within the Financial Services sector. Amendments were proposed to the following: the Mutual Fund and Hedge Fund Act 2008 Schedule 1; the Insurance (Fees) Regulations, 2019; the Securities (Forms and Fees) Regulations 2008. The Seychelles Gambling (Fees) Regulations, 2018 will be repealed and replaced by new regulations.
Cabinet also approved for Seychelles to accede to the Madrid Protocol and for necessary measures to be taken in preparation for accession.
Cabinet was briefed on the activities of the National Intellectual Committee during 2019 and its 2020 workplan.
