President Danny Faure chaired an extra-ordinary meeting of the Cabinet on Friday 23rd August, at which a number of budget related proposals were considered.
Cabinet was briefed on the mid-year review exercise undertaken by the Ministry of Finance, Trade, Investment and Economic Planning on the 2019 budget.
Cabinet approved the second submission of the 2020 budget proposals. This approval will allow the Ministry of Finance, Trade, Investment and Economic Planning to determine the final ceiling of each Ministry, Department and Agency whilst ensuring that the target of 2.5% of GDP is maintained.
Cabinet approved proposal for the manner in which funds generated by the Professional Centres will be used. Professional Centres operate suspense accounts through which additional funds generated by them through rental of facilities, running of private training courses and sale of products are managed.
