President Danny Faure chaired a scheduled meeting of the Cabinet on Wednesday 21st August, at which a number of legal and policy memoranda were considered.
Cabinet approved for the incorporation of the extended continental shelf of the Northern plateau region under the Seychelles jurisdiction. This approval will lead to the gazetting of the Maritime Zone (Extended Continental Shelf) Order, 2019.
Cabinet endorsed the establishment of the outer limits of three maritime spaces to which Seychelles is entitled under the International Law. These three spaces are the territorial sea; the contiguous zone and the revised Exclusive Economic Zone.
Cabinet was also briefed on the actions under the Fisheries Transparency Initiative.
Cabinet approved for the amendments to the Seychelles Maritime Safety Authority Bill, 2019 and the Merchant Shipping (Amendment) Bill, 2019.
Cabinet gave approval to enhance the air services agreement with Qatar. This approval will lead to an increase in the number of flights by Qatar Airways to Seychelles.
Cabinet also approved for the Seychelles Investment Board (SIB) to sign Memoranda of Understanding with partner organisations in order to enlarge its reach in investment promotion and to build capacity to better deliver on its mandate. These organisations are the Board of Investment of Thailand, Invest India and Cyprus Investment Promotion Agency.
Cabinet approved the Tourism Development (Accommodation Establishments) Regulations.
Cabinet approved the review of the Boat Charter and the Yacht Charter policies.
Cabinet also approved the Labour Migration Policy.
Cabinet endorsed the National Drug Control Master Plan 2019-2023.
