President Danny Faure chaired a scheduled meeting of the Cabinet on Wednesday morning, 23rd May, at which a number of legal and policy memoranda were considered.
Cabinet approved amendments to the Seychelles Maritime Safety Agency Bill and consequential amendments to the Seychelles Merchant Shipping Act, 1995 (CAP 127A). These amendments are aimed at improving the management of maritime affairs of the country.
Cabinet approved amendments to the Civil Status Act 1991 inorder to align the provisions of the Act with developments in the field.
Cabinet also considered and approved amendments to the Companies Special License Amendment Bill in line with new policies relating to the Base Erosion and Profit Shifting Standard of the OECD in order to improve the regulatory oversight of Companies Special Licence and enhance their business environment.
Cabinet approved the Financial Services Authority (FSA) Act Schedule 1 to include the Seychelles Gambling Act under the regulatory purview of the FSA Act.
Cabinet also approved procedural guidelines for border measures to deal with infringement and counterfeit goods coming into the country.
Cabinet endorsed strategies to be implemented by the Employment Department to improve the participation of Private Employment Agencies in provision of employment services.
Cabinet approved the poverty definition and indicators to be used to measure poverty in the country.
