President Danny Faure chaired a meeting at State House this morning where he launched the Board of the Children's Special Fund. Present for the launching was the Chairperson, members, and the Minister for Finance, Trade, and Economic Planning, Dr Peter Larose.
During the meeting, the President outlined the function of the new Board in line with good governance, transparency, and accountability. He spoke on the importance of the Board to support projects and organisations that have a direct impact on society, in areas such as education, health, culture, the fight against poverty, family values, and drug prevention; and the hosting of events for children at the end of the year.
The composition of the Board is as follows:
Chairperson - Mrs Noella Gontier
Member - Mrs Aude Labalaleine
Member - Mrs Linda William-Melanie
Member - Sister Nita Servina
Member - Mr Marcus Simeon
On behalf of the Board members, Mrs Gonthier thanked the President for the trust bestowed on her and the members and pledged to uphold the President's values. She said the Board will practise fairness and justice on all cases presented before them, and approve cases that meet the criteria and contribute to the welfare of children in Seychelles.
